The Girl from Valencia

    Marta is nine years old. She is nine. She lives in Valencia, Spain. She was born in Valencia. Valencia is on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. There are many beautiful beaches in Valencia. Valencia is a big city, but not too big. It is the third biggest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia is smaller than Barcelona, but bigger than Sevilla.

She goes to school in El Saler. She takes the bus to school every day. Marta studies a lot. She is a good student. Marta can speak Spanish, Valenciano, and English. She speaks three languages. She can’t speak Chinese.

She loves hot dogs. She has a hot dog for almuerzo at school. Her friends have sandwiches. She has almuerzo every morning in the patio of her school. For breakfast, she has milk and cookies.

Marta’s house is near Central Park. Valencia has many parks.

She has one brother. Her brother is 12. He likes football.

“Do you like football,” her brother asks.

“It’s not my cup of tea,” Marta says. “I like theater.”

Marta has theater class on Tuesday. She is in a play (obra de teatro). She is the queen of Spain in the play. Marta can sing, too. She sings songs on the stage. She isn’t nervous. She isn’t afraid.

Marta goes to Serra, a village twenty-four (24) kilometers from Valencia. Villages are smaller than cities. Only 8,000 (eight thousand) people live in Serra. She walks in the Christmas market. In the summer, Marta goes to the pool. She can swim.

Marta tiene nueve años. Vive en Valencia, España. Nació en Valencia. Valencia está en la costa del mar Mediterráneo. Hay muchas playas hermosas en Valencia. Valencia es una ciudad grande, pero no demasiado grande. Es la tercera ciudad más grande de España después de Madrid y Barcelona. Valencia es más pequeña que Barcelona, ​​pero más grande que Sevilla.

Va al colegio en El Saler. Toma el autobús al colegio todos los días. Marta estudia mucho. Es una buena alumna. Marta habla español, valenciano e inglés. Habla tres idiomas. No puede hablar chino.

La casa de Marta está cerca de Central Park.

Tiene un hermano de 12 años. Le gusta el fútbol.

"¿Te gusta el fútbol?", le pregunta su hermano.

"No es lo mío", dice Marta. Me gusta el teatro.

Marta tiene clase de teatro el martes. Actúa en una obra de teatro. Interpreta a la reina de España. Marta también puede cantar. Canta canciones en el escenario. No está nerviosa. No tiene miedo.

Marta va a Náquera, un pueblo a veinticuatro (24) kilómetros de Valencia. Los pueblos son más pequeños que las ciudades. En Náquera viven solo ocho mil personas. Pasea por el mercado navideño. En verano, Marta va a la piscina. Puede nadar.

My House



My name is Robert. I live in Valencia, Spain. Valencia is on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Valencia has beaches and parks. Valencia is a very beautiful city. Valencia is big but Barcelona is bigger than Valencia. Madrid is the biggest city in Spain.
I live in an apartment building. The building is very big. My flat is on the 4th floor. There are many flats (apartments) in my building.
I live with my family. I live with my mother, father, and my sister. My sister is four years old. I am older than my sister. I am eight years old. 

This is my bedroom. I sleep in my bedroom. My toys are in the bedroom.There is a window, a bed, a red and yellow rug, and a mirror in my bedroom. What is in your bedroom?

This is the bathroom. There is a toilet, a sink, a mirror, and a bath in the bathroom. I take a shower in the bathroom.

I watch TV in the living room on the sofa. Sometimes I sleep on the sofa.What is in the living room? There is a TV, a sofa, a table, a window, a purple rug, and a painting on the wall. 

I eat in the dining room. I have breakfast at 08:00 (eight o’clock). For breakfast I have toast and milk.

I have lunch at two o’clock. For lunch I have paella, spaghetti, or pizza.

 
I have dinner at nine o’clock. For dinner I have soup and bread.




My mother and father cook in the kitchen. There is a fridge, a stove, and a sink in the kitchen. I wash the dishes in the sink. My father cooks on the stove. The food is in the fridge because it is cold.

I go to the supermarket with my family. We buy food at the supermarket. My sister rides in the cart.
